Sam rapidly found that retail was his passion and oversaw the transformation of the ALDI brand from highly-utilitarian to one of Australia’s strongest brands.
After four years of running the ALDI account, Sam was recruited by ALDI to move in house and serve as Marketing Director. During this time, Sam’s focus was on connecting the worlds of data and creativity, a strategy that paid dividends, with ALDI winning multiple Effie awards and being named ‘Effective Advertiser of the Year’ two years running. In addition, some world class campaigns were created: Surfing Santas, Mamia Baby Faces, Expressi Yourself and Like Brands, Only Cheaper.
A two year secondment to ALDI’s German Headquarters followed and after a short stint at Westpac, Sam was lured back to the world of retail as General Manager of Customer at Amart Furniture. This entailed a move to Brisbane, which Sam and his family continue to love.
